Does This Mean We’re Having Pie?

This is an improvement over the pastry cutter we currently have because it has rigid blades rather than flimsy wires. There are cutouts in the blades making it more effective at blending the butter and flour together, which helps in making a flaky crust. The handle is comfortable to hold while blending. Good product.

I went through several pastry cutters trying to find one that actually worked well for my husband. Fit and durability mattered more than labels. This cutter is sturdy, doesn’t bend under pressure, and has a solid handle that’s comfortable for larger hands—especially for someone who approaches baking as food science.It performs well, feels durable, and gets the job done without flexing. My husband’s only complaint? It isn’t red.

I loved everything but the cleanup.

I really enjoyed this product. It made my mission of making dough much easier! However when it was time to switch recipes with no real time to throw it in the dishwasher, the cleaning process was a smidge tedious. Great product, wish it came with a cleaning brush to help the process.

Butter gets stuck

Love the sturdiness but the butter gets stick between blades which dimities effectiveness, takes time to clean while using.

The Best Made Dough Blender Ever.

Every previous dough blender I've used has been plagued with at least one major deficiency, sometimes multiple deficiencies. Handles too small for my hand, tines so flimsy they fold like a napkin...Resulting in my tossing the offending tool into the trash, disgusted with the waste of time and money.This tool is robust, beautiful to hold and will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

Like an old one I used to have, but with a nice silicone grip

I like this pastry cutter. I had one with a metal handle, but it wasn't comfortable for me to use. The only thing I don't like about this is, there's just a little wiggle to it. If it fails for me, I'll update the review. Aside for cutting in butter in pastry dough, I use this to break up the homemade dog food I make.

Heavy duty and large

This pastry cutter seems made well, heavy duty and strong, with metal on the cutting part.It cut shortening into my pie dough pretty well any produced a nice crust that wasn't overworked.The downside for me is the size. It's bulky in a utensil drawer, and it's bigger and wider than it needs to be and kind of hard to hold in my medium- sized hand.

Too bulky for me.

The handle is too big and clumsy for me. The whole cutter feels heavy. I've made LOTS of pastry in my life starting with my grandmother teaching me the two knives method of cutting butter into the flour. Over the years I've used two knives, hand pastry cutters, my bare hands (Julia Child approved) and now I let the Cuisinart do the perfect job. Note: I do have some arthritis in my hands. In addition, this blender is not easy to clean because of the notches, grooves on blades which I'm not sure are necessary.

More than I expected

The quality of this utensil is excellent! I had been using one from a home party company for years but when it finally broke, I decided to check out other brands. For a fraction of the cost of the home party brand, I got top-of-the-line product! I am more than satisfied with quality, appearance, and price.

Nooks & crannies hard to clean

Love the comfortable handle and sturdiness but don't see the benefit of the bent "corners" of the tines now that I've used it. It actually collects more dough there making it harder to clean. I make more pies in fall so now that I've first now discovered I'm not thrilled with it, unfortunately I missed the return window- I would have returned it but I guess I'll either be using it (and being frustrated with it) or donating it! Now I know I prefer straight tines for future reference. It's very well made- just poor design in my opinion. I'll be looking for a different one with traditional design but comfortable handle and sturdy build.

Beefy Pastry Cutter

This cutter has an easy-to-grip handle which works well with the overall feel of the cutter. We had an old pastry cutter for a long time, and the tines have become weak and bend while we use the cutter.After comparing several cutter and their reviews, we purchased the new Pastry Queen cutter. We are impressed with the ease of use and ergonomics of this item. it fits nicely in our hands, and we do not have to be gentle with it. All-in-all, we are glad we are happy with this purchase.

Boy is this pastry cutter sturdy!

This pastry cutter has some heft / weight to it which I think might not just help it to hold up longer but to use its weight to help cut & blend doughs more efficiently using its weight along with the downstroke & rocking motion as you cut butter (or lard or shortening or some other oil/fat) into flour.The handle is not perfect, it's a little wider for my (female) hand than I am used to & it could be made of a bit softer plastic or spongy silicone (for my ideal ergonomics), but it's a definite improvement on my old pastry cutter (that tool had a narrower rounded tubular stainless steel handle).And I love the bright blue color of the handle (easy to spot even if covered in flour or dough)!These pastry cutter blades are also nicer & sturdier than those I have seen on other pastry cutters.And I love that the instructions included offer some very useful pie crust making tips as well as the backstory of the company making it.This one is a 4.5 star out of 5 star kitchen gadget.

Very Sturdy

I haven’t had a chance to use the pastry cutter tool yet but I was impressed with the sturdiness and handle when I received it. I love the grip that the handle provides. The blades are are very strong and I am confident that they will do the job perfectly. I had an old pastry cutter that I think my mother gave me. It was frustrating to use and would use my food processor instead. The only problem is that you can process the pastry to fine. I am sure it’s just me but to avoid “user error” I purchased the pastry queen and I am glad I did.

Hmmm, will it work?

Heavy duty!!! Design of the handle made using it so easy and effortless. I was doubtful that it would work because of the thickness of the blades but I was wrong! It worked perfectly and the size was small enough to maneuver around the bowl but large enough to be effective. Such a great deal at such a reasonable price too. Definitely recommend purchasing this!

Has a more practical design

Being a pastry baker I found the design of the handle the most practical I've ever held. The silicone/rubber coating makes it easier to handle and it comes down on the side of the cutter to cushion my thumb which I need to utilize when more force is required to cut through the butter.

Sooooo glad I finally ordered one of these. It makes baking certain recipes so much easier & the outcome is much better than trying to use a fork which is what I did before.Has held up in the dishwasher too!

Sturdy and pretty

This is a wonderful pastry cutter. It is very sturdy and durable. The prongs as well as the handle are both nice and thick. The handle is quite comfortable and feels nice in the hand. There is no give so it works very well, even on cold butter. It cleans easily. It looks great too. I had never before seen a pastry cutter with a colorful handle. The blue goes with the rest of my kitchen aesthetic and it's lovely. You don't have to sacrifice performance for style with this tool. I highly recommend!

We’ll Made Sturdy Tool

This pastry cutter is made of sturdy stainless steel. The handle has a nice ergonomic grip to it making it comfortable to hold. I like the grooved pattern to the three inner cutting blades. This tool has a little weight to it making me feel that it will last for years to come.This came with a use page which tells me it’s dishwasher safe. Also in the book is a page giving pie tips which I thought was a nice add on.This pastry cutter is a great addition to my baking supplies. I have three teens that are always exploring in the kitchen. The most recent recipe was a homemade blackberry pie from wild blackberries they picked in the woods near grandma’s house. They liked having this tool to use instead of the fork we were using prior. This is a top quality tool.

A cut above the rest.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen because ..well... I enjoy cooking but in particular I love baking. Last week I was cutting cold butter into flour for buttermilk biscuits. This can be tough on a pastry cutter. I say this because I freeze my butter beforehand making it very hard to cut in plus I have a heavy hand anyway...I put my back into it..,so to speak. Anyway ,I was cutting in the butter and the handle on my old pastry cutter came loose. After closer examination I noticed that the handle was held on by two screws and now one was missing......meaning it was in my butter/flour mixture..not good. I proceeded to frantically sift through the mixture searching for this confounded screw and to save my life... I could not find it. Luckily I was pretty much finished with cutting in the butter and decided to continue with the recipe and find it when I rolled out the biscuit dough with my rolling pin. As I rolled out the dough I found the screw....it was glaringly obvious at this stage thank goodness. But after that experience I decided it was time to purchase another pastry cutter that was a bit more ergonomic, a sturdier design and preferably not have any screws or anything else that might fall off and end up in my recipe.As I was looking for a new pastry cutter on Amazon I came across this one made by Pastry Queen. I thought to myself.....Pastry Queen? ...well...that sounds just about right...best to check it out ;) And I'm glad I did. First off, it's designed to be easier on the hand. For those with some arthritis ... like I have..you will appreciate this feature.Also it's built very sturdy...a big plus because I can appreciate things that are tough and somewhat durable. And there are no parts that might fall off and end up in the dough. But in addition to the exceptional design, my order was shipped promptly, packaged properly and I received it on time and in perfect condition. I feel that this Pastry Queen pastry cutter will be in my kitchen for a very long time... Dude this thing is built like a tank compared to my other pastry cutter. And besides that, nowadays it just makes my day to find a quality product that is well worth the asking price knowing that my money hasn't been totally wasted on a piece of junk...you just never know anymore.I feel that the Pastry Queen pastry cutter is truly a cut above all the rest. Sturdy and Comfortable

This is the best dough blender/pastry cutter I’ve ever used. The handle is comfortable and secure to hold. The metal part is strong, doesn’t bend no matter how thick the dough is. Also, the spacing of the cutters is great, not too wide or too close. A simple tool but excellent quality!

This pastry cutter is by far the best one I have ever come across and owned. It is made with very thick stainless steel and therefore, is really sturdy. The ridges on the bottom cut through cold butter with no problem. The non-slip handle is easy to grip and comfortable when combining the dough. I believe this will last a long time. Don't hesitate to purchase this one.As a side note, I had some issues with the Amazon. However, the seller reached out to me, apologized for Amazon's error and corrected the problem within days. NEEDS A THUMB REST

I was looking for a well made blending/cutting tool and this is it. It will most certainly last the test of time. My only complaint, if you will, is I wish it had a thumb rest that extends off the end. My old cutter does, which makes it comfortable to use as it is easier to hold. But that cutter was a cheap tool and I wanted a better quality one. If I were to use this more often, I would want one with a thumb rest. But that may be just my personal preference.

I ordered this for use at my son's house when I visited him recently. It was exceptionally better than the one I have at home. I plan to order one of these to replace my old one. I'd recommend this one to anyone who frequently bakes.

This is so heavy duty that it’s going to chew up your ceramic and plastic bowls, I mean literally chip the ceramic and scrape ribbons of plastic off. You could mix concrete and aggregate with this bad boy. Recommend you plan to use in stainless steel only.Since I wanted a regular pastry cutter I will need to buy a different one, but if you need heavy duty this is it!

Cut Through Any Temperature of Butter

Decided this would be perfect to replace my pastry cutter that has seen better days. Old one was slightly bent probably because of a drawer. This one is very strong and I couldn't bend the metal or squeeze it together. The teeth on it make it easier to really cut through nearly frozen butter. Before I'd just rinse my hands in very cool water and try to rub everything together so it was more of a pebble consistency and then go in with my old pastry cutter, don't need to anymore with this one.

I felt that it was time to replace my 20+ year old pastry cutter with it's bent blades! When I saw this one, I knew it was just what I needed! It has a comfortable, firm grip. The serated blades are something that I hadn't seen (the blades on my previous blender were smooth). I feel like they really make blending butter with flour much easier. I have used it to make biscuits, and was impressed with this pastry blender.

This pastry blender is well constructed and nice and sturdy. I really like the quality of the materials and the silicone handle makes it easier to grip when using it. I think my only complaint is that I wish that the shape of the handle was a bit more rounded. Other than that, I am really pleased with it.

Wife loves it!

My wife has been getting into cooking a lot more after we retired. But she was complaining about using her fork to blend cold butter? Pastry mixer

I love the strong handle on this pastry mixer. It makes it so much easier to cut the butter into the dough. This mixer is so much better than the cheap one that I had bought at a local big box store.

Fantastic pastry cutter, quite heavy, handle is awesome

Finally decided to retire my old wooden handled pastry cutter, I love the vintage look but it wasn't very comfortable etc. This one has a great rubber/silicone type handle so it grips well when blending pastry etc. This seems to be made of quality metal (assume it's stainless but not 100% sure), it's a little heavier than expected, is sturdier and more useful than a lighter one for sure. Nothing negative at all about this, 5/5 easy stars!

Upgrade I have been looking for

Ah, I have used the standard version of a pastry cutter for decades and while it worked okay, it was just never as good as I wanted it to be. This pastry cutter is my game changer! First, the heft and grip are perfect. I feel such a difference with the control and less fatigue I get with this over my old version. It is not overly heavy by any means, but the size and feel gives me such a solid grip and then you get to the blades and another wow moment for me - they are much thicker and completely more sturdy than my old version. I really like the design of the inner blades with the notches taken out - I felt that this was as important as the other features that made it out perform my old cutter by leaps and bounds. Overall, my experience was that the blades gave more consistent results and much faster cutting in of the butter with the flour. I am so glad I found this pastry cutter and highly recommend.

Quality, at its Finest!

As a past pastry chef, I can tell you this pastry cutter is heavy duty and does a great job! I am not worried about the blades getting bent. The handle is solid and fits comfortably in the hand. It's a nice color as well. You can't go wrong with this pastry cutter.

I already have a pastry cutter, but I had to JB Weld the handle back on (hey, it works). So I wanted a new one before my old one breaks again. This pastry cutter is super heavy duty! The handle is very comfortable and provides a nice grip. the stainless steel blades are very sturdy and incorporate butter and shortening very well into dry ingredients. While some dough does get stuck between the blades, it has done the same with every other brand I've used in the past--just scrape it out with a butter knife. This cutter has five blades, the middle three have serrated edges to blend the ingredients faster. Very nice pastry cutter for the price.

I used this for making a streusel topping for things like apple crisp, etc. It is very useful for mixing in cold butter into things. It is very heavy duty and the handle is comfortable to hold. It does exactly what I want it to do and makes the job a lot easier. :) I highly recommend.

Great grip

This pastry cutter feels heavy duty and the grip is excellent - not my grandma's pastry cutter. However, the flour/fat mixture really seems to get stuck in the cutter, more so than other cutters I've used. I'm not sure why that is as my ingredients and temperature have not changed. I still used it, just have a table knife handy to decongest the cutter and ensure all the ingredients get appropriately mixed. One other note is that this is a large cutter so it does take up more room in my kitchen drawer where space is at a premium.

Premium tool at a reasonable price

This is the nicest Pastry Cutter I've ever seen. It's really sturdy with a great handle that won't roll in your hand. It's wide enough to fit your hand comfortably, not flimsy at all but also not too heavy. I try to buy quality tools whenever I can and this one is a premium tool at a reasonable price. I would definitely buy this again but it's so sturdy, I probably will never have to.

Very comfortable pastry cutter!

Needed a new pastry cutter. My last one didn’t last long. The rivets holding the handle broke off. This cutter has a comfortable handle and made blending the bitter and flour the easiest ever. Highly recommend.

Far beyond my expectations!

I've been cursing my old pastry cutter for years, to the point where I almost completely stopped making biscuits and crusts because I got tired of un-bending the blades with every push. I am so glad I bought this one! It definitely exceeds my expectations. It's super heavy duty; I can't imagine it bending, even with frozen butter. You can see the thickness of the steel in comparison with our butter knife. And it's nicely hand finished, with all sharp edges ground smooth.What a great purchase! I expect it to outlive me and to probably still look brand new when I'm in the ground. 🤓

I only used this once. I washed it once, and it rusted. Contacted Amazon and they basically said too bad because it was over 30 days.

Fantastic pastry cutter!

This is a fantastic pastry cutter! My last one broke, and I was so happy to find this one. It is even better than my old one! It is sturdy and easy to hold. The handle is great-- easy to hold and easy to use. It cuts butter and blends into flour so nicely and so easily! There are grooves in the cutter pieces and I think my scones tasted better because of those. I highly recommend this pastry cutter! You can throw in your dishwasher or hand wash, either way it cleans nice and easily.

It works as intended but grabs and holds onto a lot of dough. I think if the blades were a little thinner it might not happen as much, but then they might not last as long. I'm still testing it out as I've always used a fork and was looking for a more efficient method that wasn't such a work out for my arms. Time will tell which way is less work.Kinda hard to compare price wise as the competition varies greatly in design and pricing. So not sure if the $9.99 is a deal or not. Again time will tell. If it eases my work then of course it's worth it.

Must have item

I never knew I needed this tool until I saw the difference in my baking. My pie crusts have never been so flaky. Biscuits and cookies are fluffier. Tool is easy to use and clean. This is a must have item for every home but especially bakers!

PASTRY QUEEN Pastry Cutter Tool - excellent!

I used this pastry cutter tonight to mix my 8 lbs of ground beef mixture for meatballs. It did a great job. It is larger than my old one and the handle is comfortable. I like that the top blue grip is one coated piece. My last two had rivets holding the top grip and both grips separated from the bottom. This one is one solid blue grip that is soft plastic and comfortable. As with my old ones, I had to clean the blades off when they picked up too much meat. This will happen with the dough also but it cleans off easily. It went through the dishwasher and came out clean and no rust. I will update my review if anything changes.

I love how sturdy this cutter is! My old one was kind of flimsy and didn't do a good job. Now I can get the job done in half the time and it's a better job!

It makes cutting in butter quite easy, although the blades would get caked up a bit during mixing, and had to be cleared, but over all it is much better than cutting it in by hand or with a fork.Since the pastry cutter is heavy duty, it can be used for chpping up nuts as well.The pastry cutter cleans up easily.

Believe it or not, it isn't easy to find a heavy weight good quality pastry cutter at a reasonable price. I've broken two that were purchased from stores. This one is heavy duty as advertised!

Better Design.

All the other pastry cutters have a handle that rotates and is hard to use, this one has a stationary handle where you have better control over the blades.

Sharp! Great for making egg salad or mashing bananas

This kitchen tool was a staple in my home growing up. It's MUCH easier to use than a potato masher imo as the blades are sharp! Just be careful around kids or letting kids use this. For kids maybe a potato masher is better.This is my tool of choice for mashing bananas for banana bread. We also like to make banana pancakes or banana french toast.Cutting hardboiled eggs for egg salad is also really easy with this tool. I don't really make pastries but it has lots of applications. You can use it to chop pickles for relish also probably and for sure it would cut boiled potatoes for mashed potatoes. I've never made applesauce but it might cut boiled fruit easily as well for baby food or whatever.It takes up a bit of room in a drawer but if you've got the space it's really useful. I wish I'd gotten one much sooner.

Sharp Blades, Comfortable Handle, Clean Up is So-So

Nice pastry blender, much easier than using the two forks or knives method. The handle is sturdy and comfortable to hold while cutting in your butter/shortening/lard into the flour (or mashing bananas - works great for that as well), and there’s no wobbling, so it’s attached well to the blades. The blades - there are 5 of them - are sharp enough to cut into firm butter, and the blades are ridged, similar to a serrated knife, so that helps as far as the cutting in process and getting the fat and the flour well mixed. However, those same ridges also make it a little difficult to clean, and you do have to occasionally scrape the blades, especially if the fat isn’t really firm or well refrigerated/frozen. That aside, overall this is a great tool to have in the kitchen for anyone who bakes.

Who knew I could get so excited about a pastry cutter?

I would totally give this more than 5 stars if I could. Why? I mean, it's a utilitarian pastry cutter, right? Yes, but I hate cutting in butter. I have wrist, hand, shoulder, etc. issues that make cutting it in for simple biscuits or pie crust a literal pain. The only thing I like less is setting up my food processor, lol. So I tend to buy ready made crust, when I know I could make it better and cheaper. Sigh.This pastry cutter, at the risk of being cliche, is a game changer. The handle is thick, with a good soft-ish grip, ergonomically shaped, it's just great. The cutting edges make quick and - dare I say fairly easy? - work of that butter. The whole thing is designed and made so well, obviously by someone who actually bakes themselves. (I included some photos of the old one I've been using for decades, with the thin bent cutting edges, for comparison. I doubt anything I can do will bend this one!)I can't say enough good things about the Pastry Queen's pastry cutter. It even arrived in plastic-free packaging, in a nicely designed carboard box that is recyclable and also giftable. At the current price of $10 it is an absolute bargain, and I plan to order some as stocking stuffers for the other bakers in my family. Kudos, Pastry Queen!

Needed a replacement for one we destroyed

We destroyed our last pastry cutter and needed a new one.I was very surprised at how beefy this thing is. When I first picked it up and felt the weight and the handle I thought it might be too big but it has worked perfectly. The bigger handle feels good in my hand and allows extra force especially when dealing with frozen butter which is what did our old one in.

It is totally awesome. Not flimsy at all. I'm not using it for bread. But to cut up hard kibble for my dog who can't eat large kibble. This thing is built like a tank. Highly recommended. You're not going to break Bend or destroy this bad boy. Guaranteed.

Pastry cutter

This truly is heavy duty. I used it over the weekend to cut in butter for fresh biscuits. It worked very well. The blades are alternating with a smooth and a notched. The handle was much more comfortable than a the traditional cutter I had years ago. Great quality product. I highly recommend this.

Great Tool

I'm not the best at blending my doughs together, but I've gotten better since using the pastry blending tool. I don't really know what it was I was doing wrong, but my dough just never came together quite right despite following whatever recipe I was using; the dough would remain wet and sticky the entire time I was trying to do what I needed to.I'm assuming I was just in my head because I hate touching slimy stuff, so it's been nice to have this tool handy. Less of the dough gets on my hands and I'm able to monitor better through the stages of my recipes now that I'm not so focused on the weird feeling LOL.I haven't used this to cut pastries yet, but I'm sure it's coming soon. It's easy enough to clean. I did notice that some of the would-be blades become a bit warped after each use though. I usually just bend them back into position and keep it moving because I'm really not sure if it's a big deal or not.It works, I'm happy, and my bread and other dough-based items have been looking better lately.

Comfortable to use

Large handle that doesn’t slip out of place is kind to arthritic hands! The serrated blade makes short work of cutting butter into pastry. Great update of a tool I’ve been using my whole life.

A great tool.

Before retiring, for me, baking meant taking something from the frozen food section and putting it in the oven. However, since retiring, I got interested in making biscuits and was delighted by how easy it actually is. Except, that is, for cutting the butter into the flour with a fork. Very tedious. This tool makes that much easier. Although I still don't have a lot of baking experience, 33 years in automobile manufacturing has given me a lot of experience with tools, and this is a good tool: functional, easy to use (meaning reduced effort for superior results), and very sturdy. It's a good one.

Cutting Up!

I love this pastry cutter! I tired of cheap, flimsy, discount store pastry cutters, so when I saw this one I was on it! It goes through the hardest butter without an issue, making it easy for me when I'm making scones, for example. The handle is large and solid, making it easy to keep a grip while pushing the sharp blades through tough stuff, no matter what it is. You need this in your kitchen!

I needed a sturdy pastry blender and didn’t want to spend a fortune. This blender fits the bill. I make my egg salad with it as well as the usual pastry. I got the royal blue one since that is my favorite color and it is just wat I wanted! Hopefully it lasts a s long as I think it will.

I love the size and sturdiness of this pastry cutter. The one thing that I would change is the design of the handle. I don't have small hands, but still found the groove placement not spaced quite right to get a good, firm grip. It is still plenty usable, and I would recommend for anyone with larger hands.

Super Comfy Handle, Some Drawbacks but Overall It's Good

The blades are nice and sturdy but so wide the pastry dough collects inside of them, making it necessary to scrape the dough out with a fork. Those wide blades also make this harder to clean. When I use this cutter I always end up having to use a fork anyway to fine tune pie dough so I can see how crumbly it is and feels to the touch before I add the water. I didn't have to do that with my old cutter which had thinner blades. That one had a handle that was painful to use and the blades bent easily and eventually broke from metal fatigue. Overall, I like this one better, even it is harder to clean. Really love the handle.

Wish I'd had this 10 years ago

Works great! "Cuts" my cut-in time by half over my old pastry blender. The edges are sharp and designed to cut more with each press, and they do.

Sturdy; works very well.

After reading some reviews of dough cutters having sharp edges, I looked this over very carefully and found it to have been cleaned of any 'stamping' flakes or splinters. It's not sharp; it doesn't need to be. It's not chromed like the old Ekco, but it is stainless and works quite well. You'll want a bowl with a smooth transition from wall to bottom, i.e., no abrupt corner, to put this to best effect.

Worth the wait!!!

This took a while to get but it is soooo worth the wait! Perfect pastry cutter. Very solid feel and the weight of the cutter does the work for you. I looked at it several times (my pastry cutter is packed away in a moving box somewhere) and I didn't order it when I saw how long it took to ship but it is so worth the wait and so much better than any hand pastry cutter out there. Great cutter but heavy

I love the handle on this pastry cutter. My metal one dug into my hand and it hurt to use. The nice handle on this doesn't do that, BUT it does make the cutter quite heavy. My hand still hurt after using it, just from the weight and not digging into me.

This is one serious pastry cutting in tool

This cutter came in a nice box and in perfect condition, it also came very quickly. My first thought when opening the box was, “this is a serious, well designed, well made tool”. It has four blades, the middle two have a surface that is not smooth and it will really cut into your butter. The handle is comfortable to hold and the motion used feels almost instinctively easy. This tool feels like it will be around longer than I will, A new family heirloom. I hope whoever ends up with this likes blue. Recommended.

I really like this pastry cutter

I've been wanting a pastry cutter for a long time but never seemed to get around to ordering one until I saw this one. The serrated blades will help cut butter very well. I love the blue rubberized handle but it is a little large for my small hand.

Where has this been all my life?

This heavy duty pastry cutter should be advertised specifically for seniors. I am 70 yrs old and have made pies all my life with a regular sized pastry blender. Lately, it has been more difficult for me to blend the pastry dough. I googled large handled pastry blenders and this one popped up. I purchased it and am so glad I did. It is so well made and so strong. It allows my whole hand to grab it and it powers through the pastry now. I definitely recommend this heavy duty stainless steel pastry blender by Pastry Queen, you will not be sorry!

Massive improvement over previous pastry cutters that I've used: this model handles refrigerated butter like a champ, allowing for fantastic flaking action in the finished crust.Also, the number of blades (for want of a better term) helps to manage the entirety of the bowl very quickly because of the surface area it can cover in each plunge.

I like that this is heavy duty. The blades on this are solid metal not like the metal they use for whisks like my old pastry cutter. You can really get into even hard (frozen) butter. I also see myself using this to mash up boiled eggs, avocado, bananas not just pastry. Has a little give to the handle so it doesn't slip when your hands are wet. I hand wash this kind of product but it does say it can go in the dishwasher. If it matters it is made in China.

I needed to replace my old cutter and this is perfect! The prongs do not move position and their curvy design cuts through the butter easily. The handle has a comfortable design, too. I put it on the top rack in my dishwasher for cleaning. Overall, this is a solid pastry cutter.

The old wire one works better

Mine standard wire one finally broke after 40 years. Love the handle on this new one but doesn't cut the butter, etc. into the flour as easily as the wire one did.

TOO big?

This spring definitely a personal preference but I felt like it was TOO big. I use bowls that hold at least 2 quarts and the sound of the cutter scraping the bottom and sides was painful to me. I was actually afraid it would leave marks in my bowls so it lives in a box on the counter and I'm just using a fork to make biscuits. If scraping sounds don't bother you though you'll probably be fine...

Better than the expensive one

This product is well made and very comfortable to hold while using it. My old one was a pampered chef one and I felt it was a little cheap and the metal seemed a little flimsy. But this one is very sturdy and at a great price.

Heavy duty kitchen tool

Just opened this box and I'm so surprised at the heavy duty nature of this pastry blender. Toughest one I've ever seen. I haven't used it yet but I imagine it's going to be very good. There are little grooves on some of the inner tines which I didn't notice before I bought it. The metal is heavy duty and the handle is turbo strong.

Beefy!

This is substantial compared to my old pastry cutter. It's bigger, and sturdier. I don't expect the blades to bend easily like the thinner ones. However, that does make it heavier. The best part though, is it's dishwasher safe!

Large handle and tall

This works great, but can be awkward for someone with small hands and not very tall. The added height makes it awkward to use on standard counter tops and the hand grip is uncomfortable for small hands.

Had a Pastry Cutter with much smaller tines and really difficult to work with. This one is great. Cuts thru the butter so much easier. Really good to work with dough and takes half the time I had before. Would not have anything else.

why the ridges?

I do like this. I use it to chop my eggs for egg salad. That's how my grandmother used to do it. But why the ridges though?I'm not sure what their purpose is and it's a little awkward. It doesn't cut butter any better when cutting it into flour for pie crust or biscuits. So Why?I don't know, maybe it's just me, and the one I previously had without the ridges worked so I don't like the change.It does work. Just not any better.

Has a good grip, you won't slip as you cut butter into your dough. The pastry blade side is sturdy solid metal and does not bend when in use. Comfortable fit in my hand and had no trouble making two batches of scones.Easy to clean if you want to hand wash as the blades are far enough part to make it easy. This made it through the dishwasher on the top rack just fine.

There’s some weight to this tool and it makes cutting and breaking down dough so much easier! My pie crust turned out so beautiful- flaky and buttery… the handle has a great grip! It’s a beautiful tool, a MUST purchase!
